SmartCalTM is hand-crafted by a family of elves who live under a mushroom
deep in a secluded forest of Silicon Valley. They dream
of moving to a non-fungal abode, so they bide their time
lovingly carving zeros and ones into any spare bits of
sand that are careless enough to be about.
No one knows where these elves find the precious drops of HTML and crystals of
SQL they use to create the elaborate, jeweled web pages that they call
SmartCal. A few say they've seen the crenelated towers in which the
terabit servers lurk spewing forth millions of calendars through their
OC-45s. Fewer have seen the secret source code that generations have
wrought into the finely honed edifice we see today.
One thing is for certain, the elves are a rare breed, but silicon elves
are downright esoteric, the secrecy and
vitality of their code sworn to even before the sanctity of their
mushroom home. The silicon elf much
prefers the warm glow of a CRT to the cruel intensity of the sun.
While silicon elves are extremely hard to catch, they can be lured
into a trap with large quantities of stock options, or even just a
bit of spare chocolate.
