What are cookies?
Cookies are small files placed on your computer by your browser which
allow SmartCal to identify you once you've logged in. No one else
can see these cookies.
In order to use the SmartCal system, you must turn on cookie support
in your browser.
What do we use cookies for?
We use cookies for two main reasons: keeping track of who you are
(login), and keeping track of your session.
Cookies provide us enough information to validate your login without
making you type in your user name and password on every page. Our
cookies contain encrypted data which is much more secure than basic
web authentication.
Session information helps us to decide what you are expecting to see
on the next page (for example, the monthly view versus the daily view).
Can I turn cookies off and still use the service?
No. Cookies must be turned on in order to use the SmartCal system.
What happens when I hit the Sign Out button?
This removes the cookies that we've stored on your machine so that you
will be forced to login again before you can use the system.
Can you read my files?
No. Your browser provides the cookie mechanism in order to control
what can be taken from your machine. Your browser packages up the
cookies and sends them to us. We cannot read your disk or any
of the files on it, including the cookie files.
Are cookies a security hole?
We are not aware of any security holes related to cookies. For further
information please see the web site of your browser provider.
What happens if I delete my cookies?
This will appear to us as if you've hit the Sign Out button. In
other words, you will be forced to login again the next time you
try to look at your calendar.
