Sharing calendars is a great way to make your life simpler
in trying to juggle all the things you have going on.
Each calendar has a set of
permissions, or access rights,
which you assign.
These permissions determine
who can see, update, and post on your
calendar. By default,
only you can do things on your personal calendar, but you
can change that. What you would do instead is create a
new calendar, and assign
alternate permissions on that calendar. Then you can
subscribe your personal
calendar to this new calendar so
that you still have all the events in one place.
For instance,
you could create a joint calendar for you and your
spouse. Each of you would have a personal calendar, and
each of you would have full rights to the joint calendar.
Your spouse wouldn't go to your business meeting, so you put
that event on your personal calendar (or go ahead and make yourself
a business calendar), but a dinner date requires both of you,
so you add that to your joint calendar. Since you have a
subscription, the dinner date appears on your personal calendar.
