SmartCal Unveils New Calendar Package Targeted at
eBusiness
SmartCal 500 designed to build reach, improve retention,
and enhance revenue.
San Jose, Calif.--October 27, 1999-- SmartCalendar, Inc. (www.smartcal.com)
a leading supplier of calendar software to web sites, today announced the immediate
availability of SmartCal(TM) 500. "Calendars are a proven way to enhance stickiness
on a site," said Todd Flynn, CEO of SmartCalendar, Inc. "SmartCal 500 also increases
reach - generating new users in addition to repeat visits." For example, using
SmartCal 500's invitations feature, called RSVP, existing users help attract
new people to the site. "Word of mouth is the most powerful, and cost-effective
way to grow your site's unique visitor count. As your users invite groups of
friends to events, they attract new eyeballs en masse," said Flynn.
SMARTCAL 500
SmartCal 500 is a custom solution for large Web sites, businesses and organizations
that have an installed base of customers, and want to enhance stickiness, word-of-mouth
customer acquisition, and advertising and ecommerce referral revenues. SmartCal
500 preserves a company's brand identity, and integrates into the existing registration
system. With SmartCal's powerful group scheduling feature, group members can
see who is going to which event on the group calendar. Members of the group
can easily invite anyone with an email address to any event. Invitees are then
asked to return to the host site to accept or reject the invitation. Invitees
do not need to be registered in the SmartCal system or be members of the group
to RSVP. SmartCal automatically tracks who has sent an RSVP, and who has not.
Different messages can then be sent to automatically generated lists of those
who have responded "yes", "no" or "no response". In this way SmartCal makes
it easy to plan and organize events, leading to high frequency-of-use, and increased
stickiness for sites installing SmartCal 500. "In addition to its features for
individual users, SmartCal 500 makes it much easier to coordinate a group,"
said Flynn. "Groups are an important usage block for most web sites seeking
to build community and traffic, in addition to individuals."
SMARTCAL EXPRESS
For smaller web sites with less traffic that want to build a successful membership
or customer base, SmartCal offers its Express service absolutely free of charge.
SmartCal Express enables webmasters to add a free events calendar to any Web
site in under 15 minutes. Sites such as church groups, community organizations,
local entertainment businesses, and clubs of all sorts can have a group calendar
on the Web in minutes, with full event invitations and scheduling capability.
SmartCal Express is designed for smaller sites that want the convenience of
fast, easy event scheduling and promotion. "Use of SmartCal Express enables
a site to promote events online, get a beautiful customized calendar and group
scheduling system, and eliminate all development costs," said Flynn. SmartCal
Express is a good choice for lower-traffic sites that don't need the full domain
level integration of SmartCal 500.
SMARTCAL'S FEATURES
Host sites that offer SmartCal give their end-user customers a free, easy-to-use,

A RAPIDLY EXPANDING PARTNER NETWORK

groups to promote their events online. In California's Silicon Valley alone,
partners include the Technology Museum of Innovation, the American Musical Theater
of San Jose, the San Jose Downtown Association, the Silicon Valley Capital Club,
and a network of local nonprofits. "It is a privilege to work with these major
institutions to support philanthropy, the arts, and local businesses," said
Flynn. "We are working with a number of large nonprofit organizations worldwide
to use the power of the Internet to increase their membership and promote their
events." ABOUT
